How to set a sleep schedule with Apple Watch

Apple Watch's sleep tracking—including the new sleep stages feature introduced in watchOS 9—happens when you're in sleep focus mode. Rather than turning on sleep focus manually each night, it's a lot easier to set a sleep schedule.

Turn on a sleep schedule in the Apple Health app by following these steps:

  1. On your iPhone, open the Health app, then switch to the Browse tab.
  2. Tap on Sleep.
  3. Scroll down to  Your Schedule, then tap on it to edit.
  4. Make sure the "Sleep Schedule" and "Use Schedule for Sleep Focus" toggles at the top of the screen is turned on (see screenshot below).
